Hand-Forged 3- Tine Soil Cultivator
Made in USA - Oregon
Heirloom Hand Cultivator Hammered By a Smith
Soil cultivation is one of the most important steps in starting and maintaining a garden. Dirt naturally becomes impacted over time which prevents nutrients from reaching plants. During the growing season you need to continue soil cultivation for aeration which will lock-in moisture and reduce water usage. Cultivation should always be done with dry dirt to prevent impacting the soil again.
We are honored to offer this cultivator which is hammered by a 70 year-old master blacksmith in Oregon. Each one is painstakingly forged individually from saw steel so they acquire their own look from the hammer of the Smith. The shape and design of the cultivator has been refined for decades to become what gardeners really need - an extension of your hand.
The steel 3-tine head has extremely sharp points to slice through all types of dirt. This is important in cultivating since you need to breakup hard impacted dirt. The cultivator also pulls out sticks, rocks and weeds as you work the soil.
The handle is made from hickory wood which has been beautifully varnished. With continued use the handle will pick up the oils from your hand to maintain a nice sheen. The square shank is attached to the handle with a twist technique to keep it attached for life.
This 1.2 pound dirt cutting powerhouse is best for those with medium hands and average strength. It will be the tool you pass down to the next generation to continue the joy of gardening and respect for nature.
